Mouthy actor Alec Baldwin refused to apologize in a New York City court on Thursday, choosing instead to pay a fine after he cursed out two female cops who pulled him over for cycling against traffic.
Mr. Baldwin was issued the May 13 summons for riding his bicycle the wrong way on lower Fifth Avenue. The actor had reportedly gotten belligerent and delivered an expletive-filled rant when they demanded identification. He was arrested for disorderly conduct.
“Looks like you have a short fuse,” Judge John Delury said Thursday, the New York Post reported. “You want to wait this out? Do you want to apologize?”
“I’d rather pay the fine,” Mr. Baldwin shot back.
“Than apologize?” the judge asked.
Mr. Baldwin shook his head no and said, “I just want to pay the fine,” The Post reported.
Toward the beginning of the proceeding, the judge asked, “You were in ’Search for Red October’’?”
“The Hunt for Red October,” Mr. Baldwin corrected him.
“That was a good movie,” the judge said, The Post reported.
Mr. Delury told the actor that the disorderly conduct charge would be dismissed if he stayed out of trouble for six months.
“Be a good boy from now on,” the judge reportedly said.
