A Colorado woman has been charged with attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

The FBI says that Shannon Maureen Conley tried to assist the radical Islamic terrorist organization operating in Iraq and Syria between Sept. 7, 2013 and April 8, 2014. The 19-year-old was arrested in Denver trying to board a flight that would bring her into contact with the terrorist group, a local ABC affiliate reported Wednesday.

During her arrest, Ms. Conley was found with CDs and DVDs labeled “Anwar Al-Awlaki, a local CBS affiliate reported. Al-Awlaki was the radical American cleric who was killed by a Sept. 2011 U.S. drone strike in Yemen.

The station also reported that Ms. Conley, a recent convert to Islam, told investigators that she liked the idea of guerrilla warfare because she could “do it alone.”

The FBI has been increasingly concerned with the number of Americans who have sought out ISIL. The agency believes that up to 15 Somali-American men from Minnesota have joined the terrorist group, including a man named Abdirahmaan Muhumed.

FBI spokesman Kyle Loven recently told Minnesota Public Radio that investigators are trying to discover who is recruiting Minnesotans to enlist in the terrorist organization.
