Fox News host Sean Hannity took a swipe at President Obama’s perceived missing-in-action response to the Malaysia Airlines crash, and the Israeli ground invasion into Gaza, asking in a joking tone: Is his only reaction to put the golf flags at half-mast?
His words, referencing Mr. Obama’s penchant for playing golf, no matter what current news events are breaking domestically and around the world: “Here we have our closest ally involved in a ground invasion,” he said, on Thursday night’s broadcast to his guest KT McFarland, Mediaite reported. “We have 300 people shot out of the sky, likely by one of our biggest enemies. And the president’s raising money. What’s next? He’s going to put golf flags — since he plays golf 180 times — at half-mast? I mean, where is presidential action here?”
Ms. McFarland responded, “Missing in action,” Mediaite reported.
The exchange only highlighted what other conservatives were saying about Mr. Obama in recent days — and over the course of his presidency, during which they describe him as an uninvolved, cold leader.
After the plane went down, Mr. Obama sidestepped for about 38 seconds from his speech on transportation spending to give a quick update to the audience about the breaking news, McClatchy Washington Bureau reported.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee subsequently put out an email: “The president raised money hours after the murder of Ambassador Christopher Stevens in Benghazi. The president raised money as Russian troops stormed into the Crimea in February. … Last week, while refusing the visit the border, the president traveled to Colorado on the taxpayer dime to raise money for Mark Udall … Yesterday, shortly after the attack on Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 killing nearly three hundred people, President Obama publicly joked around before heading off to money.”
Mr. Obama addressed the nation Friday via a media broadcast about the downed flight.
