Sen. Kelly Ayotte, New Hampshire Republican, said Friday that she believes investigators will find that Moscow is behind the attack on a Malaysian Air commercial plane.
The airplane was shot down Thursday near the Ukraine-Russia border, with each party putting blame on the other.
“I never cease to be amazed by the nerve of Vladimir Putin to accuse the Ukrainians,” Ms. Ayotte said on MSNBC.
“Essentially this investigation at the end of the day, I think the fingerprints are really on Moscow,” she said, noting that the capital city is funding the Russian separatists.
Ms. Ayotte called for the president and European leaders to impose tougher economic sanctions on Russia. She also urged the U.S. to provide military support, especially better equipment, to the Ukraine military.
