As the next presidential election draws nearer, both Republicans and Democrats have shown strong support for possible candidates, but new campaign finance records show that conservatives might be more eager to promote their ideal bid.

The National Draft Ben Carson for President Committee reported receipts of roughly $3.4 million in the second quarter of the election cycle, outpacing the well-known Ready for Hillary PAC, which raised just $2.5 million.

Both PACs spent heavily this quarter, with Hillary Rodham Clinton supporters dolling out almost $2.5 million and advocates for Mr. Carson’s bid spending roughly $2.9 million.

Conservatives hope to persuade Mr. Carson, the famed former neurosurgeon who now writes a column for The Washington Times, to run for the GOP nomination in the 2016 election. Mr. Carson gained favor among Republicans after he delivered conservative remarks in front of President Obama during the National Prayer Breakfast in February 2013.

Neither Mr. Carson nor Mrs. Clinton have confirmed whether or not they plan to run for the presidency.
