Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sounded a loud alarm on the dashing of a partial peace solution with Hamas after the militant group shot off rockets, in violation of a cease-fire: “Our answer is fire,” he said.
Specifically, Mr. Netanyahu said, The Washington Post reported: “Hamas chose to continue fighting and will pay the price for that decision. When there is no cease-fire, our answer is fire.”
By Wednesday morning, Israel had hit at more than 25 targets in Gaza — including the known home of Mahmoud Al Zahar, the senior level Hamas leader. Hamas struck back, shooting off at least 13 rockets at southern Israel sites, most of which were shot down by the Iron Dome defense system.
The trade of fire came as Mr. Netanyahu gave the go-ahead for “full force” against Hamas after the militant group opted out of a deal to quit firing into Israel.
