Almost one-quarter of Americans think the best way to fix Congress is to clean house and bring in all new people, said a new poll released Tuesday, suggesting that there could be high turnover in November’s midterm elections.
A Gallup poll found that just 15 percent of people think Congress is doing a good job in July, relatively unchanged from June’s 16 percent approval and keeping up the trend of very low approval so far in 2014.
The largest group of Americans at 22 percent say the way to fix Congress is to fire all current members and bring in new people. The next most popular fix at 14 percent is to have more bipartisan cooperation in Congress and 11 percent want to shorten Congress members terms.
The poll results come from telephone interviews with more than 1,000 adults across the country between July 7-10. The margin of error is 4 percent.
