President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner led the bipartisan charge in support of Team USA ahead of the World Cup knock-out game against Belgium.
“In America, we don’t settle. We out-hustle the competition. That’s who we are. Let’s do this, @USSoccer! #IBelieve #US - bo,” Mr. Obama tweeted, ending the message with his initials, indicating he personally sent the tweet from the White House twitter feed.
Earlier, Mr. Boehner tweeted a picture of himself holding up a card with the hashtag: “I believe” — with the message: Let’s go Team USA.
Sen. Rand Paul, Republican of Kentucky, also jumped on the bandwagon: “Good luck to @ussoccer today! #IBELEIVETHATWEWILLWIN” he tweeted.
And Sen. Chuck Schumer, New York Democrat, retweeted the message that U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard has put out before each game:
“I
I believe
I believe that
I believe that we will win
I believe that we will win
I believe that we will win #AreYouReady #1N1T #USA.”
