Julia Roberts’ half sister claimed in a suicide letter that the Hollywood darling drove her into the “deepest depression” of her life that ultimately led to her death.
Nancy Motes, a 37-year-old former production assistant for “Glee,” died of a drug overdose in a bathtub on Feb. 9. A suicide note was found at the scene, first revealed by The Daily Mail on Tuesday.
“My mother and so-called ’siblings’ get nothing except the memory that they are the ones that drove me into the deepest depression I’ve ever been in,” Motes wrote. “I have suffered thru this disease all my life, however It has never been this bad.”
“I burst into tears every morning b/c (because) I woke up,” she wrote.
Motes’ fiance, John Dilbeck, and his family are now engaged in a bitter legal battle with Ms. Roberts and her mother, Betty Motes, for control of her estate, The Daily Mail reported.
The note has three sections; one addressed to John, another to Betty Motes and Ms. Roberts, and a third addressed to “everyone.”
Betty Motes and Ms. Roberts have not added their letters to the court file, so they remain private.
Motes had expressed her anger toward her family before on Twitter.
“Just so you all know, America’s Sweetheart is a bitch,” she tweeted, The Daily Mail reported. “Do you want to be a fan of someone so cruel? She’s not even that good of an actress. Happy you totally [expletive] me.”
“(M)y own family has abandoned me,” she reportedly said in another.
