A Connecticut school board member resigned under criticism, after he spouted off that he would observe the anniversary of the tragic Newtown shooting by distributing ammunition.
Gregory Beck from Brookfield faced a rash of telephone calls for his resignation shortly after he made the comment, The Associated Press reported. His actual words, posted on his Facebook page: He referenced the “26 Days of Kindness” campaign that was forming to honor the 20 elementary students and six educators who were killed in the Dec. 14, 2012, shooting. And he said his act of kindness would be to distribute ammo to his friends one each of the 26 days, AP reported.
Although Mr. Beck quickly apologized, members of the community weren’t soothed. They called for him to step down.
He finally did this week — after only serving two months on the board.
