Sandra Fluke, who grabbed national headlines for campaigning in favor of full federal funding for birth control, said she’s seriously considering a run for the congressional seat being vacated by Rep. Henry Waxman.
“I’m flattered that I’m being discussed as a potential candidate. A number of folks I respect very deeply have reached out today and encouraged me to run. I am strongly considering running,” Ms. Fluke told California radio station KPCC, according to the Blaze.
Ms. Fluke also joined President Obama on the campaign trail in 2012. She describes herself on her LinkedIn social media page as a “social justice advocate” who lives in the Los Angeles region.
Mr. Waxman, California Democrat, announced Thursday he’s retiring at the end of 2014 after 40 years on Capitol Hill.
