DECATUR, Ala. (AP) - Federal regulators have lifted a “red” level safety finding from the Browns Ferry Nuclear Power Plant in Limestone County.

The Decatur Daily reports (https://bit.ly/1kjXYnG) that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission lifted the safety finding, but some issues remain.

NRC Regional Administrator Victor McCree said the plant showed improvement in the 10 areas inspected during the agency’s most recent inspection.

However, he said that two additional violations remain, which will keep the plant in the NRC’s lowest overall safety grade until addressed.

The newspaper reports that NRC and Tennessee Valley Authority officials reported the findings of inspections during a public meeting this week. The “red” finding was given following an incident in 2010 in which an emergency cooling valve failed.
