UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A southwestern Pennsylvania woman has “straightened out” a would-be intruder.

Uniontown police tell KDKA-TV (https://cbsloc.al/1aMwy9u ) that Kameshia Ford fended off her ex-boyfriend by bopping him on the head with a hair straightener.

That man, 45-year-old David Sims, has been jailed on burglary and other charges.

Police say Sims got into Ford’s home about 3 a.m. Thursday and tried to rob her and her current boyfriend while armed with a kitchen knife.

That’s when Ford says she hit Sims with the hair straightener.

Police Lt. Thomas Kolencik says Ford won’t be charged because she was acting in self-defense.

Ford says, “My first instinct was to protect my family and loved ones, and I’d do it again if I had to.”

Online court records don’t list an attorney for Sims, who remained in the Fayette County Prison.
