ATHENS, Greece (AP) - Paraguay striker Nelson Valdez has joined Greek defending champion Olympiakos, on loan from Abu Dhabi club Al-Jazira.
Olympiakos says on Friday it has the option to extend the agreement after the season.
The 30-year-old Valdez, who has played for Werder Bremen and Borussia Dortmund, says he’s looking forward to joining Olympiakos’ campaign in the Champions League, with last-16 games against Manchester United on Feb. 25 and March 19.
Valdez, who replaces Fulham transfer target Kostas Mitroglou, has scored 12 goals for Paraguay in 66 matches.
