CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A 12-year-old from Laramie is competing in a prestigious piano competition in France.

The Casper Star-Tribune (https://bit.ly/LhU7KP ) reports that James Wilson is one of just two Americans playing in the Lagny-sur-Marne (La-nyi-Surh-Marn) competition, which began Friday.

Wilson has performed at the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall and dozens of universities around the country. His teacher is University of Wyoming piano instructor and concert pianist Theresa Bogard.

The seventh-grader also plays basketball at the University of Wyoming’s Laboratory School. He says he gets his homework done before basketball practice and then goes straight home to practice the piano. He told the newspaper that he usually eats “pretty fast.”
