George Zimmerman, who was acquitted of murder charges for shooting Florida teen Trayvon Martin, has agreed to get in the ring for a celebrity boxing match scheduled for March 1.
TMZ first reported the deal, forged by celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman. ABC reported that Mr. Zimmerman’s opponent has not yet been named.
The proceeds are going to be donated to charity, ABC said.
Mr. Zimmerman, 30, was acquitted in July for the 2012 fatal shooting of Travyon, 17, in a case that indirectly tested Florida’s “stand your ground” gun defense laws and fueled activist protesters who alleged racism was at play.
