ST. MARTINVILLE, La. (AP) - An elderly Breaux Bridge woman has died in a two vehicle crash on La. 31, north of Breaux Bridge.
Louisiana State Police says 88-year-old Maryetta Wyche, was headed north Friday when she collided with a trucj driven by 73-year-old Ray Patin, also of Breaux Bridge.
State police say the two vehicles were heading toward one another and when they crossed the Interstate 10 overpass on La. 31, Wyche crossed the centerline and struck Patin head-on. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
St. Martin Parish coroner’s office pronounced Wyche dead at the scene. Patin sustained moderate injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
The crash remains under investigation. State police say routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
