CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - The Senate has voted to raise the voluntary campaign spending limit for people running for governor in New Hampshire to $1 million each election cycle.
The Senate voted Thursday to raise the limit for gubernatorial candidates who voluntarily agree to limit spending from $625,000 in both the primary and the general elections. The bill also would raise the cap on Executive Council races from $50,000 to $75,000 per cycle and for state Senate from $20,000 to $50,000 per cycle.
It also would allow local election officials to accept more forms of photo ID from voters than currently allowed in law. Under the bill, in 2015 officials could verify a voter’s identity without seeing a photo ID.
