LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Navy student pilots and their instructors are back in southern New Mexico and once again conducting training flights in the Las Cruces area after a year’s hiatus.

Personnel from an air wing from Corpus Christi, Texas, arrived in Las Cruces in January for training flights that continue into mid-March.

The deployment takes advantage of seasonally good weather.

The Las Cruces Sun-News (https://bit.ly/1bBwNyN ) reports that the 70 students and 25 instructors are flying in and out of Las Cruces International Airport with propeller-driven T-34 aircraft.

With several exceptions that included last year, the Navy has regularly conducted flight training annually in Las Cruces.

Last year’s flights were conducted in Roswell in southeastern New Mexico.
