FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) - A woman who ran a Natick massage parlor where employees were allegedly kept as “sex slaves” has been ordered held on $25,000 bail.

Shixin Zhang pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of trafficking a person for sexual servitude and deriving support from prostitution. One of Zhang’s employees was charged with having sex for a fee.

Prosecutors say the 45-year-old Zhang ran and lived at the Oasis Spa. She allegedly lured Chinese woman to work at the spa, forced them to engage in sexual acts with clients and refused to let them leave.

If Zhang posts bail, she must surrender her passport.

The MetroWest Daily News (https://bit.ly/1ea5Dou ) reports that Zhang’s lawyer says his client denies the charges. He says Zhang was a physician in China and the spa was for medical muscle treatment.
