KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is meeting with the public on Feb. 5 to talk about safety violations found at the Watts Bar nuclear plant last year.

The plant was cited for not being prepared in the unlikely event that upstream dams failed and the plant flooded.

Located on Watts Bar Lake, about 60 miles southwest of Knoxville, the plant is operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. EST at the Comfort Inn on Decatur Pike in Athens, Tenn. NRC officials will discuss results of follow-up inspections. The NRC says there has never been a flood that affected the plant’s operations.

The public can also join the meeting by telephone. For information, contact Jonathan.Bartley@nrc.gov.
