HOUSTON (AP) - Houston police have arrested a suspect in the abduction of a 6-year-old girl who escaped after going into a store and telling a customer that she was kidnapped.
Police say 23-year-old Joaquin Ramos was captured early Thursday and is charged with kidnapping.
Investigators say the girl did not appear harmed during the hour-long abduction Wednesday afternoon.
Police say the girl and her mother drove into an apartment complex garage and the woman unloaded the vehicle. The girl was standing nearby when a man forced her into his SUV and drove away.
Houston police say the man took the girl to a Target store. She went into the bathroom and told a customer about being abducted. The man fled.
Police say Ramos’ family saw news reports about the kidnapping and contacted police.
