SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Notre Dame forward Austin Burgett has been released from the hospital after undergoing a procedure to correct an irregular heartbeat.
Irish coach Mike Brey said Burgett was released from the hospital Thursday and should begin rehabilitation work in the middle of next week. Burgett, a sophomore who is averaging 3.5 points and 2.4 rebounds a game, has missed the last two games after experiencing an abnormally fast heartbeat against Florida State on Jan. 21.
Brey says Burgett’s condition is common and non-life threatening. He says doctors used a procedure where they went through the femoral artery and used radio waves to correct the heart problem.
Brey says he will be cautious in returning Burgett, who has started three games, to the lineup.
