OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Two employees at the Oklahoma County Detention Center have been arrested on charges of assault and battery.

The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office says in a news release that it has fired 29-year-old John Jacobson and 29-year-old Jose Botello for an incident that occurred at the detention center on Dec. 1.

Charges of assault and battery have been filed with the Oklahoma Count District Attorney’s Office. It’s unclear if the men have attorneys.

Oklahoma County Sheriff John Whetsel says that as public servants charged with protecting those in custody, detention center employees are held to a higher standard. He says he will not tolerate anyone who violates that trust.
