Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg made the largest charitable gift on public record in 2013, according to the Chronicle of Philanthropy.

The Silicon Valley Community Foundation received 18 million Facebook shares, which is worth more than $990 million.

Mr. Zuckerberg’s gift is the first time that a donor younger than 30 was responsible for the year’s largest gift. He and his wife Priscilla Chan gave the same gift to charity in 2012, which at the time was worth $500 million, the Chronicle of Philanthropy reported.

Other well-known philanthropists who made the top ten list for 2013 include former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and David Koch. Mr. Bloomberg pledged $350 to Johns Hopkins University and Mr. Koch pledged $100 million to New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
