WINOOSKI, Vt. (AP) - The cold temperatures are being blamed for a number of burst water pipes in the cities of Burlington and Winooski.

A water line break on Wednesday prompted officials to shut off water in a part of Winooski and to close a lane of Main Street. Drivers are being asked to seek alternative routes.

Laurie Adams, assistant director for Public Works water quality in Burlington, told the Burlington Free Press just before noon on Wednesday that crews had fixed a water break on Main Street near the Edmunds school but that another one on Pine Street persisted.
