SAO PAULO (AP) - Palmeiras says it has reached a deal to sell defender Henrique to Italian club Napoli.
The former Barcelona and Brazil defender is traveling to Italy on Tuesday to sign a four-year contract with Napoli after undergoing a medical.
Brazilian media said Napoli paid 4 million euros to sign Henrique from Palmeiras, the Brazilian team with the most national titles.
Henrique was called up by Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari last year and remains hopeful of playing for the hosts in the World Cup.
The 27-year-old defender moved from Palmeiras to Barcelona in 2008 but didn’t fit into coach Pep Guardiola’s plans at the time. He spent time on loan at Bayer Leverkusen and Racing Santander before returning to Palmeiras.
