LILLE, France (AP) - Lille has signed right back Sebastien Corchia from rival French first division club Sochaux on a four-and-a-half year contract.
Lille announced the transfer on its website on Wednesday without disclosing any financial details.
The 23-year-old Corchia is known as an attack-minded defender and has been capped by France 25 times at under-21 level.
Coach Rene Girard said “we needed someone at the back at all costs to strengthen our squad and to be competitive until the end after Franck Beria’s injury.”
Beria is expected to be out for another two months with a shoulder injury.
Lille is in third place in Ligue 1 and fighting for a Champions League place, four points ahead of fourth-placed Saint-Etienne.
