LAREDO, Texas (AP) - The owner of a South Texas gun store has pleaded guilty in a weapons smuggling case with ties to Mexico.
A federal judge in Laredo on Tuesday accepted the plea from 60-year-old Robert Jacaman Sr., who owns Jacaman Guns and Ammo in Laredo. Jacaman pleaded guilty to conspiring to smuggle firearm ammunition and magazines to Mexico. He also surrendered his federal firearms license.
Jacaman remains free on bond pending sentencing. He faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Prosecutors say thousands of rounds of ammunition plus gun magazines referenced in the 2012 indictment were intercepted before being delivered to Mexico.
