LAS VEGAS (AP) - Prosecutors in Las Vegas have agreed not to seek the death penalty for a Nevada prison inmate who pleaded guilty before trial to killing a 78-year-old man with a punch to the head during a street robbery.

Rodney Marshall faces 20 years to life in prison at sentencing April 3.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1iLtAEL ) the 53-year-old Marshall is already serving a life in prison sentence on multiple robbery convictions.

Records show that Marshall pleaded guilty Jan. 23 in the April 2009 slaying of 78-year-old Ronald North.

Police say North died two days after he was attacked on Tropicana Avenue, several blocks east of the Las Vegas Strip.
