NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey Transit is operating additional trains to handle customers heading to and from Super Bowl activities.

Late morning and evening service into and out of New York City will be available on the Northeast Corridor and Morris & Essex Lines between Wednesday and Friday.

The service got off to a slow start because of delays caused by a disabled Midtown Direct that had to be towed to Hoboken Wednesday. The train had lost power.

Four hours earlier, passengers on another train had to be rescued when their engine stopped because of a downed power line in a tunnel under the Hudson River.

On Super Bowl Sunday, NJ Transit will operate Meadowlands Rail Line service from Secaucus to MetLife Stadium starting at 1:40 p.m. and continuing up to game time.
