TOWN OF HOLLAND, Wis. (AP) - Sheboygan County sheriff’s authorities say a driver being chased by deputies died after he crashed into a utility pole.

The sheriff’s office was told about an erratic driver just after 7 p.m. Wednesday. Deputies learned there was a temporary misdemeanor warrant for disorderly conduct-domestic acts of violence issued in connection with the vehicle.

Deputies tried to stop the vehicle in the Town of Holland, but the vehicle tried to elude deputies and reached speeds of more than 100 mph.

Authorities say the driver lost control and crashed into the pole. The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was thrown and died. His name was not released.

The Sheboygan County sheriff’s office has asked the Wisconsin State Patrol to investigate. No other details were released.
