The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has a solution for sensitive electronics that get left on the battlefield: vaporize them.
BAE Systems Advanced Technologies has been awarded a $4.5 million contract to create the futuristic electronics, security website Defense One reported.
When sensitive technology gets lost on the battlefield, it’s only a matter of time it lands in the enemy’s hands, the agency contends. For that reason, it hopes to develop electronics “capable of physically disappearing in a controlled, triggerable manner,” according to a federal procurement website.
