CONWAY, S.C. (AP) - Warren Gillis made a short, fadeaway bank shot with 1.6 seconds left to give Coastal Carolina a 66-64 victory over Liberty on Wednesday night.
Andrew Smith had tied the game for Liberty on a dunk with 26 seconds left. After a timeout, Gillis took the inbounds pass and kept possession before making his drive to the hoop.
Coastal Carolina trailed 60-55 with 3:39 left before rallying to take the lead 64-62 on Elijah Wilson’s jump shot with 52 seconds remaining.
The victory gave CCU (12-9, 5-2 Big South) sole possession of first place in the conference’s South Division after Radford defeated Winthrop Wednesday night.
Gillis finished with 18 points. Josh Cameron and Wilson scored 13 points each and Badou Diagne 11 for the Chanticleers.
Andrew Smith scored 11 points and Tomasz Gielo and Davon Marshall had 10 each for the Flames (9-13, 3-4).
