NEW YORK (AP) - Patrons of the New York City Ballet can walk all over the dancers when they enter the Lincoln Center theater.

The David H. Koch Theater promenade features a massive photograph mounted on linoleum flooring of over 80 dancers arranged in an array of poses.

It’s the work of the French-born artist JR, winner of the 2011 TED Prize. He’s known for his large-scale photography projects.

JR created the work after staging a photo shoot of the artists lying down while pushing and pulling on a white crinkled paper.

When patrons peer down from the upper balconies, the image takes on the look of a huge eye.

It’ll be on display through March 2.

It’s the second installation in the NYCB’s annual art series featuring works by contemporary visual artists.
