NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Freezing temperatures and a wintry mix of rain and sleet has forced adjustments to operations schedules at the Port of New Orleans.

Officials say ship cargo operations ran as usual Tuesday at port terminals, but gatehouse operations for truck transport were suspended because of closures to bridges and interstates in south Louisiana.

Non-essential employees will get another day off Wednesday because of the icy conditions but both break-bulk and container ships are scheduled to work.

Port President and CEO Gary LaGrange says employees should monitor the employee hotline for updated information on work schedules at 504-528-3388 or 866-476-7866.
