SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Federal environmental regulators say a settlement has been reached in a long-running pollution cleanup case at an old circuit board manufacturing facility in Silicon Valley that has been designated one of the nation’s most polluted places.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Tuesday said it reached a $2 million settlement with CTS Printex, Inc. and ADN Corp. that will require the companies to finish cleaning up contaminated groundwater and monitor the air for harmful vapors.
CTX made circuit boards at the site in Mountain View between 1970 and 1985, which involved the use of industrial solvents that contaminated soils and groundwater on and around the property.
The site is one of 23 Superfund sites — or those designated by EPA as the most polluted places — in Santa Clara County.
