PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island’s unemployment rate in December was again the worst in the nation.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics on Tuesday released rankings that showed the 9.1 percent seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was higher than any in other state.

The previous month, Rhode Island tied with Nevada for the highest unemployment rate, at 9 percent. In December, Nevada’s rate fell to 8.8 percent, while Rhode Island’s notched up one-tenth of a percentage point.

Rhode Island has had one of the worst jobless rates in the country for years.

The U.S. unemployment rate in December was 6.7 percent.
