BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - A Joliet man who is serving a five-year sentence with the Department of Corrections for shooting at police officers who responded to an animal cruelty report in 2011 has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge for infecting his former partner with HIV.
Carbon County Attorney Alex Nixon tells The Billings Gazette (https://bit.ly/1b4qu6V ) that 53-year-old Peter Clifton Northcutt pleaded guilty earlier this month to negligent endangerment, reduced from a felony count of criminal endangerment.
Nixon says the victim didn’t want to go to trial.
Justice of the Peace Kevin Nichols sentenced Northcutt to a year in jail with three months suspended, to run concurrent to the Department of Corrections sentence for three counts of assault on a peace officer.
State records indicate Northcutt has been held at the Yellowstone County jail since November.
