OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Gov. Mary Fallin has set special election dates to fill the final two years of a state Senate term in southeastern Oklahoma.

Fallin announced Tuesday the election to replace Valliant Democratic state Sen. Jerry Ellis will coincide with the dates for the regular 2014 election cycle.

Ellis previously served in the House and can’t complete the final two years of his Senate term because of term limits that limit legislators to 12 years in office. His Senate District 5 includes Choctaw, McCurtain and Pushmataha counties, as well as parts of Atoka and LeFlore counties.

The special election will be held on the same dates as Oklahoma’s regular 2014 elections, with a primary on June 24, a potential runoff election on Aug. 26, and the general election on Nov. 4.
