CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The Cheyenne City Council has delayed a vote on a controversial ordinance that would loosen restrictions on the display of election signs in the city.

The council voted unanimously Monday to postpone a final vote for two weeks. This marks the fourth time a final vote on the issue has been delayed.

According to the Wyoming Tribune-Eagle (https://tinyurl.com/korqne6 ), the city was slapped with a lawsuit earlier this month that claims the current sign regulations, which are part of the city’s Unified Development Code, unconstitutionally limit free speech.

Under the reintroduced ordinance, people in residential areas would be allowed to display up to two temporary signs per lot. There would be no restriction on the number of election signs that could be displayed.
