LINCOLN, Ill. (AP) - Wind gusts have damaged a popular Abraham Lincoln tourist attraction in the central Illinois city of Lincoln.

The Courier in Lincoln reports (https://bit.ly/1n9leai) winds severely damaged the covered wagon featuring Lincoln. The damage happened to the local landmark overnight Sunday into Monday. The National Weather Service says Lincoln saw wind gusts of 44 mph.

The statue of Lincoln wasn’t badly damaged. However the wagon’s two left wheels were crushed and a tarp that covers the wagon was ripped and nearly torn off.

Nancy Saul is interim director of the Abraham Lincoln Tourism Bureau of Logan County. She says the wagon is insured.
