WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) - Williston police are investigating a report of a homicide and want the public’s help locating a piece of evidence.

Detective David Peterson tells The Associated Press that police received the report of a homicide on Saturday. He says police have not confirmed the report nor have they found a body.

Peterson says police are looking for a bed mattress that is considered evidence in the case. He says the mattress may have been discarded along a roadway or ditch in the Minot area after being transported from Williston.

Peterson says the public should report any discarded mattress found in the region. But he says people should not touch the mattress or disturb the area.
