LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Las Vegas nurse and union supporter is announcing her bid for the Nevada Assembly.

Jerri Strasser announced her candidacy Monday for the District 5 seat.

She hopes to replace fellow Democrat Marilyn Dondero Loop, who is running for a seat in the Senate.

Strasser is a nurse at University Medical Center and has lived in Las Vegas for 45 years. She is chief nursing steward at UMC for the Service Employees International Union.

She has the support of the Assembly Democratic caucus.
