LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Shoni Schimmel’s record-breaking 3-point shooting performance against Memphis helped the Louisville senior guard earn American Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors.
Schimmel scored 29 points and had a school-record nine 3-pointers in Sunday’s 88-61 win over the Tigers and during the week she averaged 27 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3 assists for the No. 5 Cardinals (20-1, 8-0 AAC). She scored 25 points against Houston, hitting 7 of 11 from behind the arc, and had a season-high eight rebounds and five assists.
Against the Tigers, Schimmel was 9 of 12 from 3-point range, including six in a four-minute span of the first half. The game capped a week in which she went 19 of 30 from the field (63 percent).
