Michael Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York City and one of the founders of a national group to curb Second Amendment rights, now says America needs to pass immediate amnesty else face a dire fate.
“Our current immigration laws are national suicide,” he said during an immigration summit in the nation’s capital, Breitbart.com reported. “I don’t think that’s an exaggeration.”
Mr. Bloomberg, co-founder of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, has indicated he’s shifting focus and funds from gun control to amnesty for 2014 — and he has words of advice for the Republican Party.
“If you are against the fastest-growing voting bloc in the country, you and your party don’t have a future,” he said in the Breitbart report.
Not all in the GOP agree with that statement.
Other Republicans say opening the doors to legalization of millions of those who are in the country illegally will not only seem a slap in the face to America’s laws — and to those who undertook the arduous process of obtaining their citizenship through the legal processes — but it will also bring on the “final economic blow” to U.S. workers, 16 House Republicans recently proclaimed in a resolution, Breitbart reported.
The Congressional Budget Office, meanwhile, reported previously that the Senate’s version of immigration reform would depress American wages in certain job categories.
