COLUMBIA, Md. (AP) - Gov. Martin O’Malley visited the Mall in Columbia, getting a frozen yogurt at the food court at the shopping center where a gunman fatally shot two store workers before killing himself.
O’Malley and Howard County Executive Ken Ulman visited the food court Monday afternoon, less than two hours after the mall had opened for the first time since Saturday’s shooting.
O’Malley and Ulman each had a cup of tutti frutti frozen yogurt; the governor’s was topped with blueberries and strawberries.
O’Malley said he was there as a symbol that everyone in Maryland is with the people of Columbia.
Police say 19-year-old Darion Marcus Aguilar shot and killed two employees in Zumiez, a shop that sells skateboarding gear. Twenty-one-year-old Brianna Benlolo and 25-year-old Tyler Johnson died in the shooting.
