SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay are out of the Sacramento Kings’ lineup again because of injuries.

Cousins is sitting out his third straight game with a sprained left ankle Monday night against the Utah Jazz. Gay warmed up his strained left Achilles but was scratched from the starting lineup.

Both players were injured early in a 119-98 loss at Houston last Wednesday. Without their two top scorers, the Kings nearly upset Indiana before losing 116-111 in overtime Friday. Sacramento then lost to Denver 125-117 on Sunday night.

Cousins, who averages a team-leading 22.6 points and 11.6 rebounds, stayed in California to receive treatment. Travis Outlaw was inserted in the starting lineup and Jason Thompson moved to center.

Gay has averaged 20.1 points since arriving in a Dec. 9 trade with Toronto. Derrick Williams started at Gay’s forward spot for the third consecutive game.
