OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Three-time defending series champion Ryan Villopoto won the AMA Supercross race Saturday night at O.co Coliseum, easily holding off James Stewart.

Villopoto, the Kawasaki star from Poulsbo, Wash., raced to his second 450SX victory in the first four rounds of the season. A 10-time winner last season, he has 36 career victories.

“It feels good to be up here tonight,” Villopoto said from the podium. “We have put in a lot of work at the test track and I have a great team behind me and a great bike under me. I hope I can carry this momentum into Anaheim next weekend.”

Stewart was 4.2 seconds behind Villopoto.

“The track was really one-lined tonight,” Stewart said. “I had to take some chances out there to move through the field.”

Chad Reed was third, and Ryan Dungey finished fourth.

Villopoto leads the season standings, seven points ahead of Reed.

KTM’s Jason Anderson raced to his third Western Regional 250SK Class victory in the first four races, taking the lead on the last lap when Dean Wilson momentarily slowed.

“I have been working very hard, and everything was coming together tonight, but my bike stalled,” Wilson said. “I have always had the speed, but I have yet to put it together.”

Anderson leads the standings, six points ahead of Cole Seely.

“I can’t believe I keep pulling these off; three wins in four races is huge,” Anderson said. “I hope to come away with the No. 1 plate at the end of the season. I wanted to be in attack mode tonight, but I also wanted to keep it on two wheels.”
