GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) - A Gillette-based company has teamed with NASA to provide a crucial step in sending astronauts farther into space than ever before.

The Gillette News Record reports (https://bit.ly/1dH9zaa) L&H Industrial machined and then installed parts on NASA’s crawler transporter - made up of four trucks - at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The vehicle eventually will carry NASA’s new Space Launch System from the assembly shop to the launch site.

Machine shop supervisor Adam Konrad says it’s “pretty awesome” that L&H’s logo will be right next to NASA’s on the crawler.

L&H, which has a history of upgrading and making parts for mine equipment around the world, won the contract in October 2012.
